Two outfits.

Image
Wore these on Mon and Tue. I started working again, so I am going to get out of the jeans rut that plagued me for the last weeks! And, speaking of jeans, here's Mon: Shirt - H&M Jeans - Killah Shoes - Gioseppo Necklace - Target I had to wear jeans because I had group rearshal after work, and I had to be comfortable to play... Also, I love this shirt, both the cut and the color. It was a Christmas girft from my cousin. Tue: Shirt - Halfon Skirt - Promod Arm wrap - Random street stand Flats - Gaia Fishnets - Golden Lady Necklace - Steph's mom I bough this skirt in Venice, while shopping with the above mentioned cousin. I find its shape a bit strange on me, may be it's the pockets. I have to wear something fitted on top for it to look good, I think...

Sunday outfit

Image
I wore this because I am headed to my parents' for lunch, and I wanted to ask mom whether she thought this top could be appropriate for work. She's pretty blunt, so I am not worried she is not gonna tell me what she really thinks. Here is the outfit: Shirt - Promod Top (under the shirt) - Tezenis Jeans - Killah Shoes - Nike Necklace - Target I'd wear the shirt this way to go to work. It is sheer, but I have a black top underneath. If anything, I think it's a tad too elegant, but I think the baggy jeans and sneakers tame it down... Work environment is really casual, so I am not concerned about wearing baggy jeans there - besides, I wear a lab coat all day except than to go to lunch. Here is with the jacket: Jacket - Benetton Scarf - Thrift store in Toronto's Kensington Market Deatil of the scarf: What do you think - can I wear this outfit to work?

Daily outift.

This is today's outfit. I just had to try do some shopping and get a haircut... Shirt - Zara Jacket - Benetton Skirt - Promod Fishnet tights - Calzedonia Shoes - Gaia Necklace - Target Simple outfit, using a black/grey combination. I used my red bag, but it's not pictured. I wanted to buy three t-shirts: one in black, on in white, one in red. Grey would have been fine instead of white. I tried Tezenis, but they were having their "today every bra is 5 €" sale, so there were so many people that I should have been in line about an hour. I looked in all the other stores, and it seems impossible to find very simple, crewneck, short sleeved tees! I considered buying men's ones, but nobody sold men's S size! I'll have to go back to tezenis during the week...

Today's outfit.

I wore this to go run errands in the nearby town with my sister (boring stuff), then to go sign my new contract at work. And of course a colleague (actually, my colleague Steph, the one who's mom makes jewels) immediately spotted my new skirt... Shirt - Guess Jeans Arm wrap - random stand Skirt - Promod Fishnet tights - Calzedonia Shoes - Gioseppo Necklace - Steph's mom Love this skirt, and love pairing it with red shoes. Here's a closeup on them: They are really confortable too. I like this outfit so much, that I was considering the idea of buying, from now on, only clothes and accessories in black, grey, red and white. I am playing with this idea. I think it would very much reduce my shopping (you have to find the perfect pair of shoes/bag/skirt/whatever in these colors only). Plus, it would make getting dressed so much easier. Everything goes with everything. It doesn't seem so stupid, actually!

Venice!

Random pictures from last weekend... (Weather was not always great... we got so wet on Sat!) And this is me with a hot chocolat...

Things I Love Thursday.

Time for some gratitude! This week I am loving... A call from work to tell me tomorrow I am going to sign my new contract. I am so happy! And, related to the above: seeing again all my colleagues. So glad they are all so nice... Weekend in Venice! It was so nice an relaxing, I had a wonderful time walking around the city with my cousin, looking at art, shopping, drinking cocktails and eating sweets.. New, totally unnecessary shoes - and wearing them to go nowhere in particular. Playing music. It gets easier and easier, it's such a pleasure... Getting compliments every time I wear my purple skirt. It must have something magic in it! Finishing a really good book - and being sorry it's finished already! The sun, a good pair of shoes, and a green field... And getting a new haircut soon!

Short hiatus...

Sorry I haven't been able to post more outfit pictures, but I left for Venice on Friday morning - and I am still there 'till Monday! It has been a rainy day today, but the city is not a bit less beautiful under the rain! I'll post pictures as soon as I am back...

Dress Your Best - Day 3

Image
First, I would like to say that thanks to the Dress Your Best idea, I have come across so many inspiring blogs, I will never thank enough the chics. On some of them I left a comment, some of them just enjoyed looking at, but they are all from awesome girls! Oh, and... go check out this post - so well written... Back to business. The third feature I decided to highlight are my ankles. I don't like my legs very much, but my ankles are thin, so highlighting them makes me feel more slender. I have even a tattoo on one of them (not the one you can see in the picture!), which draws more attention there. Here is today's outfit: Shirt - Express Jacket - Benetton Skirt - Conbipel Fishnet tights - Calzedonia Shoes - Alesya Necklace - friend's present, handmade Scarf - Random store in Toronto. Even though they have a t-strap, I think these shoes do a good job of highlighting my ankles. Plus, they are super comfy (I walked a lot in them, today!) Closeup of the shoes: And

A recent discovery...

Dress Your Best - Day 2

The second feature I love about myself is my long neck. Having short hair by itself makes a good way to highlight the neck. Plus, I chose to wear a dress with a deep V neck, a discrete necklace, and, to go out, a scarf. Here are the pictures: Dress - Harba - bought at Sandro Ferrone Top - Hollister Fishnet tights - Calzedonia Boots - Random store, circa 2001 Necklace - Steph's mom, gift from a co-worker I would have much preferrd to wear my brown maryjanes with this, or a pair of beige shoes I just bought. But it's still rainy, so I had to make do with these boots, which go perfectly with the color of the dress. A closeup of my neck The haircut really elongates it. And, of course, my scarf: I bought this scarf at an ethnic store in Boston, when I was visiting, with the purpose of using it as a wrap at sister's wedding. It's pure silk, and it has a nice, modern.eastern motif:

Dress your best - Day 1

The first feature I decide to play, for Dress your best week, were my eyes. It's kind of complicated to highlight eyes with clothes - I like to play them up wearing black eye-liner, but this wasn't about make up. My eyes are very dark, and my skin very fair (I am a light-skinned mediterranean type), so to play up my eyes I decided to wear something dark on top - which would create a contrast with my light skin, hence would highlight my dark eyes. I thought the dark necklace would be a nice complement to the outfit. Don't know how successful I was... Here is the result: Shirt - Zara Top - NY&Co Arm wrap - random Store in Rome Jeans - Killah Boots - Doc Marten's Necklace - Target I had to wear jeans and be confortable for band practice. Plus, it was cold and rainy, so my choices were pretty limited... Tried to take a closer picture of my face/eyes, but this was the best result - it kinds tries to give an idea...

Dress your Best Week!

Image
This is officially Dress your Best Week! It's a nice idea from the chics at academichic. They made a list of bloggers wiling to participate to this initiative. The idea is to dress to highlight your best features, instead of trying to hide what you don't like about yourself, as often happens. They asked to pick five features we love about ourselves, and publish at least one outfit this week highlighting one of them. My list of what I lòove about me: my eyes my neck my hands my back my calves and I have to say - it wasn't easy to come up with five things... So, my plan is to try to dress according to this list, highlighting one feature a day.

Green!

Image
Its all really green around here (especially after last week's rains). Since today it was the first sunny day in a while, I put on my Doc Marten's and went to take pictures. Here are some. All of them are views of the Latin Valley, except than the last one. That is the entrance of a little field that still belongs to my family, where granma used to grow veggies - plus she had heazelnuts, figs, walnuts and chestnuts trees in there (they're still there).

My red bag!

Image
Lovely Kristi asked me to say something more on a handbag visible on a chair in one of my last outfit posts. First, here are some pictures: It looks shinier than it is in real life, but I coulnd't take pictures without using the flash. This is a very loved pleather bag. I like that is big (it fits my music books), bright, and it has a chain with two flowers attached. I bought is on a street stand in Jan 2009, and am still happy to wear it. It's my "happy bag".

Totally random picture!

Just because...

Weekly outfits.

I am pretty sick of this cold and rainy weather... I am tired of wearing the same things over and over again. Besides, you'll see I wasn't really creative, since I didn't have to go to work... I don't know why I didn't take a picture on Thu - it was the only day I didn't wear jeans! Anyway, here are the pics: Cropped cardi - random street stand Shirt - Mango Jeans - Killah Shoes - Nike Necklace - NY&Co I am not enirely sold on this cropped cardigan. It is really useful for when it's too cold to wear short sleeves, but the cropped length somehow looks weird on me... Leather jacket - Conbipel Shirt - Project for Upim Jeans - Killah Necklace - Target Scarf - Kensington Market in Toronto Ballet flats - Gaia Close up of the ballet flats: I totally copied Kelly's outift here. I saw her post and immediately thought of wearing something similar. Not too creative, here... Basically, everything as yesterday, except Shirt - Promod Sneakers - N

Beautiful...

May to-do list!

image source With (almost) a whole three weeks of no work ahead of me (and hoping it won't be more), I decided to take advantage of all this free time to do everything I have been  putting off because of lack of time. So, here is my list! Get my car checked - I am doing it today! Ask for my unemployement check. Buy and take care of plants - I want at least basil and rosemary, plus lots of flowers for my balcony and may be thyme. Sage would be lovely too (now I am thinking roasted chicken with potatoes and a touch of sage... mmmhhh....). Take pictures of all the clothes and shoes I have set aside and I want to sell - and of course list them for sale. Have a blood test - I have been putting off this for sooo long! I hate going places without having had my breakfast. Go buy my veggies at the weekly farmers market! We have one every thursday. Take lots and lots of pictures. The town and the valley ae so beautiful this time of the year. Everything is fresh and green. Go visit
